The primary focus of GALCO is to facilitate the creation of appropriate business models for agricultural leasing initiatives in Ghana and the education of agricultural stakeholders on leasing in the rural areas. The objective is to bolster the food security of the region through mechanised farming practices.
In September of 2008, GALCO was awarded a US$360000 grant by the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) to complement similar capital injections by the US based Millennium Challenge Corporation’s (MCC) $547 million compact in Ghana to reduce poverty by raising farmer incomes through private sector-led agribusiness development.
